Insurance Survey for Yachts in Australia and South Pacific
A yacht insurance survey is an inspection performed so that the insurance company and underwriter can determine whether or not the vessel is an acceptable risk. Shipwright Surveyors offers over 25 years of experience in insurance surveys.
What Is an Insurance Survey?
An insurance survey is interested in the intended use of the vessel, the structural integrity, the market value and the safety for its intended use. This survey is often requested periodically by your insurance company if the vessel is over 10 years old. The survey is performed to the same standard as a pre-purchase survey, while concentrating on the risks to the insurance company.
You should never accept a seller’s insurance survey as a pre-purchase survey.
Consulting on the Vessel’s Capability
Kel has many years of experience sailing around the world in the yacht he personally built. He provides expertise consultancy on the vessel’s capability of performing in a variety of conditions that are likely to be encountered in offshore and remote cruising locations. He can also source and ship necessary parts from across the Asia-Pacific.
No Extra Cost for Rigging Inspection
One of Kel’s strengths that sees him standing out is that he climbs up the top of the mast on his boson’s chair to do a thorough rigging inspection, at no extra cost. Many rigging defects cannot be discovered from the deck level and it’s vital to ensure the vessel is fit for the sailing purposes.
